Ministry Department

Ministry Department is the overall body of BUPNG that looks after the spiritual aspects and the doctrinal beliefs of the workers of BUPNG, its area Unions, Association and churches in PNG. BUPNG Ministry Department Coordinates women ministries in the Baptist Churches in PNG, Evangelist ministries, Missions, Youth Ministries (BUSA, Girls Brigade and Sunday School) and Spiritual Warfare or Prayer Warrior Ministries. This also facilities two Baptist Theological Colleges one at Kwinkya, Baiyer River, Western Highlands Baptist Union and the other in Tekin, Min Baptist Union, Sandaun Province. And one feeder school at Lapalama Enga Province. Spirituality is also enforced on social services like Baptist Education, Baptist Health and Baptist run Community Developments.

The Ministry Department has three staff working, including the Ministry Director, Pastor David Maini. Pastor David Maini was the former Ministry Training Coordinator for BUPNG and the Dean of Studies and a lecturer at Baptist Theological College, Baiyer River. He was appointed to the Director of Ministry post on the 30th May 2021. The Women’s Coordinator is Helen Meremba from Simbu. She is the daughter of Pastor Meremba of Kerowagi Baptist Church, Simbu Province. She is an Agriculturalist by profession. Our National Youth Coordinator is Hanson Gaiyer from Baiyer River, WHP. He is a young man, who is more enthusiastic to do God’s ministry.

Ministry Department has conducted AGM at the Enga Baptist Union and Eastern Highlands Baptist Union for the good of the churches in that locality. Western Highlands Baptist Union and Min Baptist Union are still pending.

CANDO PROGRAMS

BUPNG is now implementing CPP Program as well as CANDO program. CPP looks at programs like Literacy, Gender, Child Protection, Health and Education as well under CPP Coordinator. The DRR Coordinator (Benjamin Mano) looks after CANDO program like Disaster Risk Reduction Activities, Disaster Ready, COVID-19 Theological Messaging, Distribution of PPEs to all the 3 Baptist Hospitals, also BUPNG is Hub for HHH (Highlands Humanitarian Hub). We have set up 2 containers at Kimininga to contain pre-position supplies to response to disaster in the Highlands Region. In 2021, the project coordinator delivered water supply (funded by Asia Pacific Baptist Aid) in response to disaster in Ukunyi/Baiyer Zoo. The coordinator had also delivered 7 COVID-19 interactive sessions, Asaro (EHP), Jiwaka, Baiyer, Kompiam, Telefomin, Kiunga and Tabubil.

Health Department

BUPNG Health Initiatives

VHV/VBA & HCM3

Health Care Manual Project

This program was led by BUPNG since 2015 to develop a fully revised and updated third edition Health Care Manual, based on current health care information. This book can be used by CHW and others as well.

Village Health Volunteer Program

This program is focused on training the village women as Village Birth Attendants. And also in training and implementing public health activities under the Women and Children Health Project .

Establishing Hospitals

Through this program, the organization plans, initiates, and establish rural health care facilities. BUPNG has two established rural hospitals; Tinsley District Hospital in Baiyer (WHP), and Kompiam District Hospital in Kompiam (Enga).

Community Health Workers Training School

Establishing Community Health Workers (CHW) Training School is another program under the BUPNG Health Department. Tinsley CHWTS is an example under this program.
